At WSBR: Sunburst Radio, students ages 10-17 learn digital music composition, songwriting, beat-making, interviewing skills, live sound recording, performance, and other producing skills to produce their own professional quality radio program.
Sessions occur weekly and are 2 hours in length. Typical sessions include a brief demonstration of a new skill, followed by a student brainstorming session and creation of a new musical project.
Our students’ finished episodes are presented during student recitals, over the waiting room loudspeakers and online on SoundCloud. There will also be opportunities for WSBR to students to perform some of their electronic music compositions at our Group Program Showcases.
Past radio programs have consisted of original WSBR original compositions, showcases of original recorded material from other group programs, interviews with fellow student musicians, and promotions of upcoming events. You can listen to past programs here:
WSBR: Sunburst Radio is a fun opportunity for all students to learn a variety of important skills and make a shareable musical product they can be proud of! It also helps connect and unify students across multiple programs and disciplines by displaying all their work in one place. We hope you will join us!
