Are you a seasoned or new songwriter looking to share music and get some peer feedback? Bring your instrument, your voice, and whatever you're working on to our monthly songwriting group, peer facilitated by Abbey Martin. Open to all adults, students and non-students alike.

Join us for the Sunburst Piano Club, led by our talented instructor Jaime Cohen! Piano Club is a great opportunity for piano students to dive deeper into music theory, enjoy interactive and educational games like Music Jeopardy, and gain performance experience.

• Ages 5 to 7: 5:30 to 6:15 PM
• Ages 8 to 12: 6:15 to 7:00 PM

Stop by the Squirrel Hill Night Market, where we'll have live music featuring Thanakarn Limtham Trio, Outside the Lines, Veverke, and Cosmic Shag, along with an info booth. Come say hi between 6–10 PM at the corner of Darlington and Murray.

Whether you're a beginner or a pro, join our free Jazz Jam to play and learn about jazz in a supportive group setting, facilitated by Sunburst instructors. Want to prepare? The sign-up page has a list of jazz standards we pull from, so you can look one over and bring it ready to play.

The House Band is our all-star group of students ages 10 to 17 who want to take their playing and performing as far as it will go. The band rehearses every Friday from October through June, plays sets at the Winter and Spring Band Program Showcases plus shows of its own around Pittsburgh, and gets studio time, radio appearances, and more along the way.

Auditions are held on guitar, bass, drums, piano, and voice. Here's what to bring:

• A 2-minute excerpt of a song that shows off your playing, solo or with a backing track
• A second song on a second instrument, if you play more than one
• Current enrollment in Sunburst lessons or another Sunburst program

Once accepted, the House Band is free for students already in a Band Program group, and otherwise costs the same as any band program group. If you want to audition but can't make September 11th, let us know and we'll set up a private audition.

Calling Miyazaki fans everywhere! Our next Sunburst Cabaret celebrates the music of the Studio Ghibli film collection. Join us to hear selections from favorites like Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, and more, performed by Sunburst students and staff.

Tickets are free, but an RSVP is appreciated so we can save your seat.
