  • Private Lessons

    Tuition

    • Billing for tuition is a flat monthly rate. Lessons are held each week except when the school is closed for holidays (see our calendar). Most months have 4 lessons, rates are the same for months of 5 and months of 3.
    • Payments are due on the 1st of the month and billed automatically via Credit Card.
    • A $25 late fee will be added after the 10th of the month.

    Membership Cancellation

    • Memberships may be canceled by submitting our Withdrawal Form.
    • Withdrawal forms must be received by the 25th of the month to take effect at the end of that month. For example, a form received on the 26th of May will be billed for June and will take effect at the end of June.
    • Withdrawals received after the 1st of the month are subject to a Late Withdrawal fee equal to 50% of your monthly tuition.
    • No refunds or exceptions for withdrawals received after the 10th of the month.

    Missed Lessons

    • Cancel a lesson with more than 24 hours notice and receive a Make Up Credit.
    • Make Up Credits expire 60 days after issuance or 7 days after your membership ends, no refunds for unused Make Up Credits.
    • Make Up Credits will only be issued for months that have been paid in full, students wishing to cancel a lesson in the following month will need to pre-pay tuition in order to receive a Make Up Credit.
    • Once booked, Make Up Lessons cannot be rescheduled.
    • No Make Up Credits for missed lessons or lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice.
    • Once per calendar year, students can receive an emergency/illness make up exception by request.
    • You can use your Make Up Credits to book Make Up Lessons with any available teacher, we can also swap them for another instrument by request.

    Staff Cancelation and Substitutions

    • If your teacher is unavailable, the school may arrange an appropriate substitute teacher for your lesson.
    • All of the same cancellation policies apply to lessons with substitute teachers. No Make Up Credits will be issued to students canceling lessons under 24 hours, including when a substitute is assigned the day of the lesson.
    • In some cases we may not have an available substitute and may need to cancel your lesson. In this instance, you’ll receive a Staff Cancellation Credit, these can be used to book a Make Up Lesson, or at your request, can be redeemed for tuition credit.

    Summer (June, July, August)

    • Students may elect to put their membership on “Summer Hold” for up to 2 consecutive months during the summer with notice before the 25th of the prior month (Summer Hold Form).
    • Requires pre-payment for your resuming month (latest resume date is September 1st).
    • Your lesson time and teacher will be reserved.
    • Students on Summer Hold may purchase Drop In Lessons for the weeks they are available, subject to teacher availability.

    Care of Students and Picking Up (Parents of in-person minors only)

    • Students are not to be left for excessive time periods before or after their lessons.
    • Students are not to leave unaccompanied without written permission from a parent or guardian.

    Injuries and items

    • All students, parents and legal guardians waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property, including hearing damage (talk to your teacher about recommended hearing protection).
    • Sunburst is not responsible for lost or stolen items. 

    Photo Release

    • Unless requested in writing, Sunburst School of Music is granted permission to take photographs/videos of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, social media, and other promotional materials. If you’d like to opt out, please use the form here.

    • Groups are treated as a single entity and must enroll, cancel, do make ups, and withdraw together (payments can be set up to run separately).
    • No Make Up Credits for single group members missing a lesson.

  • Sunburst Band Program

    These policies cover the Sunburst Band Program, Sunburst Band Program 18+, and Sunburst House Band.


    Tuition

    • Billing for tuition is a flat rate per term. Sessions are held each week during the term except when the school is closed for holidays (see our calendar). Most months have 4 sessions, rates are the same for months of 5 and months of 3.
    • Tuition for the term can be paid in full before the 2nd week for a 5% discount, or broken into installments due on the 1st of each month of the term.
    • Monthly payments received after the 10th of the month are subject to a $25 late fee.

    Term Commitment and Re-Enrollment

    • Students must commit to attending through the end of the term, no refunds or credits for students withdrawing before the end of the term. New students in their first term may withdraw during their first month for a full refund.
    • At the end of the term, your spot will be held for the following term and you will be assumed to be re-enrolling.
    • Students wishing to withdraw at the end of the term must submit the withdrawal form by the 10th of the last month of the term
    • Withdrawals received after the 10th of the month are subject to a Late Withdrawal fee equal to 50% of one monthly term payment.
    • No refunds or exceptions for withdrawals received after the 1st of the month of the new term.

    Missed Sessions

    • No refunds or credits for missed sessions.
    • We hold free monthly community jam sessions called Sunburst Jams, these are a great way for students who have to miss their band program to get some extra time in! Check schedule here.

    • Regular session cancellation policies apply to substitute teachers, no refunds or credits will be issued for last minute substitutions.
    • In some cases we may not have an available substitute and may need to cancel your session. In this instance, you’ll receive a Staff Cancellation Credit, these can be redeemed for tuition credit at your request.

  • Music Together® and Rhythm Kids®

    Tuition

    • Billing for tuition is a flat rate per term. Spring, Fall, and Winter terms are 12 weeks, and summer term is 8 weeks.
    • Tuition must be paid in full before the 2nd week of the term.

    Term Commitment and Re-Enrollment

    • Students must commit to attending through the end of the term, no refunds or credits for students withdrawing before the end of the term. New students in their first term may withdraw during their first month for a full refund.
    • Active Music Together students will be afforded a two-week window for special enrollment in order to secure their spot in the next term. Failure to re-enroll within this designated period will result in the release of their spots, making them available for other students to book. 

    Missed Sessions

    • A Music Together® Make Up Credit will be issued when a session is canceled with more than 24 hours notice. Music Together Make Up Credits may be used to join any other open Music Together class (see schedule here). No tuition credits or refunds for unused Make Up Credits.
    • No make ups for sessions missed or canceled with less than 24 hours notice.
    • Once per calendar year, students may request an emergency/illness make up exception (less than 24 hours).
    • Make Up Credits expire 60 days after issuance or 7 days after your membership ends.

    • Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in Music Together Mixed-Age classes.
    • Students attend Rhythm Kids classes without parents.

    • There is a $50 discount for students enrolled in Private Lessons, Group Lessons, or 2 concurrent Group Programs
