Private Lessons
Tuition
- Flat monthly tuition for weekly lessons—including months with 3, 4, or 5 lessons, see our School Calendar for exact dates.
- Payment is due on the 1st of each month, billed automatically by credit card.
- A $25 late fee applies after the 10th of the month.
Membership Cancellation
- Cancel by submitting our Withdrawal Form by the 25th of the month.
- Forms after the 1st incur a late withdrawal fee of 50% of monthly tuition.
- No refunds or exceptions for forms received after the 10th.
Missed Lessons
- Cancel up to 2 lessons every 90 days for make up credits (valid for 90 days).
- No refunds or tuition credits for student cancellations.
Staff Cancelation & Substitutions
- We may provide a substitute if your teacher is unavailable; normal cancellation policies still apply.
- If no substitute is available, you may choose a make up credit or a tuition credit.
Summer (June, July, August)
- In addition to the above make up allowance, you may cancel up to 4 lessons between June–August for tuition credit.
Injuries and items
- All students/guardians waive the right to legal action for injuries on school property (including hearing damage).
- We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Photo Release
- Unless you submit a written opt-out (use this form), Sunburst may use photos/videos of students in promotional materials.

Private Group Lessons

Private Group Lessons
- We offer private lessons for groups of up to 3 friends or family members.
- Groups are treated as a single entity and must enroll, cancel, do make ups, and withdraw together (payments can be set up to run separately).
- No make up credits for single group members missing a lesson.

These policies cover the Sunburst Band Program, Sunburst Band Program 18+, and Sunburst House Band.

- Frequent absences, or repeated absences without communication may result in removal from the band program.
- We hold free monthly community jam sessions called Sunburst Jams, these are a great way for students who have to miss their band program to get some extra time in! Check schedule here.

Music Together® and Rhythm Kids®
Tuition
- Billing for tuition is a flat rate per term. Spring, Fall, and Winter terms are 12 weeks, and summer term is 8 weeks.
- Tuition must be paid in full before the 2nd week of the term.
Term Commitment and Re-enrollment
- Students must commit to attending through the end of the term, no refunds or credits for students withdrawing before the end of the term. New students in their first term may withdraw during their first month for a full refund.
- Active Music Together students have a two-week priority window to re-enroll for the next term. After this period, spots will open to other students.
Missed Sessions
- If you need to miss a session, you’re welcome to attend a different session that week, provided there is an available opening, and you give at least 24 hours notice.
- No refunds or tuition credits for missed or canceled classes.

Band Coaching
Tuition
- Billing for tuition is a flat monthly rate per student. Sessions are held each week except when the school is closed for holidays (see our calendar). Most months have 4 sessions, rates are the same for months of 5 and months of 3.
- Payments are due on the 1st of the month and billed automatically via Credit Card.
- A $25 late fee will be added after the 10th of the month.
- There is a $50 discount for students enrolled in Private Lessons, Group Lessons, or 2 concurrent Group Programs
Membership Cancellation
- Memberships may be canceled by submitting our Withdrawal Form.
- Withdrawal forms must be received by the 25th of the month to take effect at the end of that month. For example, a form received on the 26th of May will be billed for June and will take effect at the end of June.
- Withdrawals received after the 25th of the month are subject to a Late Withdrawal fee equal to 50% of your monthly tuition.
- No refunds or exceptions for withdrawals received after the 1st of the month.

We opened our doors as “Sunburst Guitar Instruction” in May 2011, with one room in the basement across the street from our current location. Now, 13 years later we’d like to say thank you to our amazing community and the teachers, students, admins, families, and friends that make Sunburst a special place!

🎸This weekend was filled with so much fun! We started off with a beautiful performance by our student, Abbey, at the EQT Children’s Festival! After that, we offered free mini lessons to all who attended. We had a blast at our Spring Concert at Frick Park Market. Congratulations to all the bands that performed!! And big thanks to EQT and @frickparkmarketofficial for giving us a space to jam! 🎸
Noteful is hosting a free workshop with freelancer and Hamilton musician Leslie DeShazor. In addition to her performing prowess, Leslie is a long-time music educator and TED speaker and it’s going to be a dynamic and inspiring session. 🎸 Calling All Bass Players! 🎸
We are on the lookout for bassist to audition for the 2024 Sunburst House Band! If you love bass and want to gain on-stage experience, we encourage you to talk to your instructor and sign up to audition!
Rehearsals will be on Sundays from 4-6pm until the end of December. Students can anticipate performing at least one gig per month and recording an EP of original music by year-end. In December, we’ll cap off the cohort with a show at a local venue, serving as both a celebration of your collective achievements and a release party for your original music!

What an incredible weekend of performances for Sunburst students! Our student Open Mic Night on Friday was truly special with a supportive crowd thanks to our amazing community of students and families. Finally Sunday was the culmination of the 2023 Sunburst House Band season at the Government Center. The show included two awesome opening sets from Sunburst related acts Aurora and Abbey Kelkenberg. The House Band put on a blistering performance making a diverse selection of technically challenging songs look easy, and clearly having a blast. Sean (aka the House Band rhythm guitarist) also led the audience in a special birthday serenade to his brother Ethan who is also one of our delightful students! Huge thank you and congratulations to this group! Especially our graduating members Nate and Nina who’ve both been a part of Sunburst groups for a decade. Our Mixed-Age Class (ages 0-5) offers a 45-minute caregiver/child music experience filled with singing, movement, and instrument exploration. Rhythm Kids I (ages 4-5) and Rhythm Kids II (ages 5-8) inspire natural musicality through play, drumming, singing, and creative activities. Classes start the second week of July and run through the end of August. Sign up today and nurture your child's love for music and understanding of musical fundamentals.

Sunburst is officially a teenager! 🎂🎂🎂
We opened our doors as “Sunburst Guitar Instruction” in May 2011, with one room in the basement across the street from our current location. Now, 13 years later we’d like to say thank you to our amazing community and the teachers, students, admins, families, and friends that make Sunburst a special place!

🎸This weekend was filled with so much fun! We started off with a beautiful performance by our student, Abbey, at the EQT Children’s Festival! After that, we offered free mini lessons to all who attended. We had a blast at our Spring Concert at Frick Park Market. Congratulations to all the bands that performed!! And big thanks to EQT and @frickparkmarketofficial for giving us a space to jam! 🎸
Noteful is hosting a free workshop with freelancer and Hamilton musician Leslie DeShazor. In addition to her performing prowess, Leslie is a long-time music educator and TED speaker and it’s going to be a dynamic and inspiring session. 🎸 Calling All Bass Players! 🎸
We are on the lookout for bassist to audition for the 2024 Sunburst House Band! If you love bass and want to gain on-stage experience, we encourage you to talk to your instructor and sign up to audition!
Rehearsals will be on Sundays from 4-6pm until the end of December. Students can anticipate performing at least one gig per month and recording an EP of original music by year-end. In December, we’ll cap off the cohort with a show at a local venue, serving as both a celebration of your collective achievements and a release party for your original music!

What an incredible weekend of performances for Sunburst students! Our student Open Mic Night on Friday was truly special with a supportive crowd thanks to our amazing community of students and families. Finally Sunday was the culmination of the 2023 Sunburst House Band season at the Government Center. The show included two awesome opening sets from Sunburst related acts Aurora and Abbey Kelkenberg. The House Band put on a blistering performance making a diverse selection of technically challenging songs look easy, and clearly having a blast. Sean (aka the House Band rhythm guitarist) also led the audience in a special birthday serenade to his brother Ethan who is also one of our delightful students! Huge thank you and congratulations to this group! Especially our graduating members Nate and Nina who’ve both been a part of Sunburst groups for a decade. Reminder: Auditions for next year’s House Band are April 7th, see the full criteria and sign up on our website.
